Unexpected playback error

Server Version#: latest as of 22/11/2024
Player Version#:5.89.1

I own an LG C3 and am currently randomly getting an error when playing video.

Randomly, playback freezes, the loading icon in the middle of the screen appears, it gets stuck for a while and I receive “An unexpected playback error occurred.”

All software is up to date, I have tested the same files on another tv running a firecube and the files play fine. It seems to be isolated to the LG C3 and just randomly started occur.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Can you enable logging to server in the app on your TV then after it happens get the server logs.

Hello there,

I have just completed your request and attached the file.
Plex Media Server Logs_2024-12-10_14-11-30.zip (4.2 MB)

Any update on this? I am experiencing the exact same behaviour. Plex on my LG tv has basically become useless due to this issue.

Well yeah it is useless.

Plex asked me upload logs which I’ve done, I’m still waiting for a reply.

I’m having a similar error with my LG TV Plex app. Some times it works, some times it just spins for a bit and then says “Playback Error: An unexpected playback problem occurred” while the same thing plays fine on a web app on my laptop. If additional logs would actually help move this forward, I’ll provide them when it happens. But given that all the threads about this issue just die after 90 days I’m guessing they won’t. I still want to add my voice to the crowd here.

I originally posted in November, I still haven’t received a satisfactory response. I did what was asked of me and provided logs, I still haven’t heard anything.

Apparently Plex are fine with selling a product that doesn’t work, they also refused my request for a refund. They simply don’t care in a nutshell.

I have since migrated to Jellyfin (it’s incredible, plus the plugins available!) fantastic UI and everything just works!

It is the same issues I have posted here:

Still waiting, though.

I still have to try extensively, but it looks like the latest PMS update for DSM 7.2 fixed the issue.

Pardon my ignorance but what is DSM?

The operating system on Synology NAS devices.

Six months and not so much as an update as to what’s happening.

Disappointing.
