Player Version#:
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>
In the past week, I have been having issues where PMS isn’t properly processing/detecting new files. It does process the image and other metadata without issues but for some reason, it is not able to detect the properties of the movie/tv series file itself. By that, the media information such as duration, width, height, aspect ratio, codec, etc…don’t show appear. The filename, the size of the file appear. All this is under the “get info” menu selection.
I’ve tried to downgrade to earlier version like plexmediaserver_1.43.4.10903-e5521bd8c_amd64.deb but they don’t seem to fix the issue.
I tried to shutdown, rename the /Codecs folder to /Codecs.old, then restart the server.
Is this a bug or a corrupt server that can only be fixed by reinstalling?
This server has been installed 5 years ago and every patch/upgrade has been processed.
Have you looked at the server logs to see if any errors show up when plex tries to analyze the file? Can share them here, and others who are good at reading them may see something useful.
Ensure debug logging is enabled, not verbose, shut the server down, bring it back up, wait a few minutes, recreate the issue by triggering an analyze on a file and then grabbing the logs. You can also watch the console after you trigger the analyze to see if something shows up.
You can also run the manual Optimize DB task in the troubleshooting section to see if that changes anything.
Yes, I have looked at the Server logs. Nothing special.
However, I did follow your instructions. I ran DBRepair. I ran tests 1-7. Nothing to report there.
I ran Optimize DB…success there too.
Then, I decided to remove the file, ask Plex to rescan the Movies directory. Gone.
I put back the movie file. asked it rescan. The movie reappeared.
This time, it was able to get the movie file properties on the first try!
Think of it…this also happened in the last two movies but I didn’t do it manually…I kept on trying different movie formats of the same movies as I was trying to see if it’s an encoding problem of those movies.
The movie you’re looking for in the log is “Mode Citizen”
