If PMS is running on the Synology, you can use the external drive because it does properly show up in DSM
What you can’t do is share the Synology’s external USB drives to other servers over the LAN.

Of course, I mean I created a new share on the synology main raid array that the PMS can normally see fine to see if it could see it but no luck.
Here is the zip now. By the way as soon as I have the cash I am getting plex premium if we get this sorted, the customer service here is excellent !

Your database has slowed again. It’s causing everything which is trying to play to stop. You have a lot of music, all very properly organized, don’t you?
If true, we will need to tune the default Synology configuration if you’re comfortable with copy/paste of a command line on the Synology shell. If not, we’ll change your Library settings.

Please Optimize the database again and restart PMS to get that back in order.
As for not seeing the share, are you certain user plex has R/W permission to that share? DSM is very sensitive about clicking ‘OK’ after making permission changes

Yeah my music is poorly organised to be fairly its a decade worth of collecting and the program I had used before plex just automatically organised via artist. For now I can remove the music until I find a better way of organising it.
I am UK its 6am here almost been up all night but I don’t dare sleep even if I have a slight migraine or it will wake up 10 times worse.
I am going to try creating a PMS on the synology, I will get back to you. In the mean time I will also remove the music from the plex on the shield to see if that helps.
Well I ended up having to reinstall the plex software on my shield, it just crashed, wouldnt stream anything. I still can’t get the PMS on the shield to see the usb drive on the synology however the PMS installed on the synology seems to be able to handle anything I throw at it including streaming 4k video so I may just end up using that instead of the shield.
