That's what I get for reading and responding on my phone. I got so excited by the continued local model I must have skipped the rest.

Ok after Reconsidering all the options I have decided to ditch the partner. He was not happy and while I was away for work disabled all Plex Notify's social media and removed the DNS records for plexnotify.com. Everything should be back up now.
Your partner took down all the sites?? What an @$$! Anyways, very happy to hear things are back on track, thanks for the update!
Whoa nellie !!!, I just saw this news....I have been using PN for a few months now and as I type this it is still running and working ???. I think I sent you some $$ (pretty sure I did) and HOPE you will keep the "old school" setup and not a web based app. I hope you managed to cut your partner lose clean. You got a large fan base in your work so far out there, focus on what works..EVEN if you have to charge an annual or one time fee...It is your work and you deserve to be compensated for it.
Keep us updated. I would sign up for a annual fee or what ever you need in a heartbeat, Any $$ I have donated in the past for me is irrelevant. Plex Notify as it is right now is an important part of my setup......

JB, I can’t thank you enough returning to your original plan. I absolutely love what you’ve already created and I have faith that it’ll only get better. I’m sorry for everything you’ve had to go through lately but things can only get better.
As for money, I think your strategy is right on par with where it needs to be and that you are being generous for allowing donations go toward the “lifetime”, but I for one would be happy to pay another $30.
Good luck and God bless.
Those actions by that 'would-be' partner prove beyond a doubt that you were right to break it off.Ok after Reconsidering all the options I have decided to ditch the partner. That sounds reasonable enough, and I'll probably opt for lifetime (like I've done with PlexPass). There will be premium Features still for 1 dollar a month or 10/year, 30/Lifetime
That's great to hear, especially after the recent site disappearance scare.Plex Notify is almost 1 year old and I cannot that everyone enough for their support. I will continue to make Plex Notify the best that it can be and will continue to value the users input.
Great to hear about the new development strategy, the move back to a mostly local stand-alone app seems, from a community point of view, to be vital.
And you are right with the pricing plan. Plexnotify has grown legs in the last years and is surely taking up too much of your time to rely on patchy donations (much like the experience for Orca with the Samsung TV client). You ought to be paid for your work.
Thanks to your hard work over the last year the current alpha is still working great for me so don't stress out about release dates for the newer version. Are you keeping the original name though?
still running the older model, looking forward to subbing for lifetime for the new one. B)
I would've supported whatever you would of done JB! I trust you in your opinion and with my data :)
Yeah, I really liked this platform and switched from plex watch to plex notify, and I have since switched back to plex watch given the crashing of the app and the new model. I'm happy to hear it has returned to the old model because if we wanted a server side service we would probably not be running plex. I think that's clear. That's pretty close to exploitation. If you want a good way to license your software you might want to check with flexraid, they got their ■■■■ on lockdown. Anyway, I'm going to monitor this and hopefully switch back to plex notify as I like the interface and graphs but if it goes south I will design a sweet interface and reach out to my old scene friends to make this happen one way or another. It's also crazy that Plex still hasn't integrated something like this. Anyway, I'd be happy to pay for your work, but I'm not paying monthly. I felt the same way with plex, and even with my video games. I want to pay a sum and be done, and every once in a while if I want donate. I also think you need to make your stance clear. Donations are tax free, subscriptions and sales are not. So you need to really state what you are doing. Your site says donate, but clearly you are taking money for a service. Not providing a free service and accepting donations.
I'm sorry if I'm coming off as rude, but we the users have been jerked around. We are worried about privacy, and we don't want to be nickel and dimed to death, we want to compensate you for your work for sure though. Lastly, thank you for all your hard work and kudo's on dumping your partner.

I will continue on with the original plan of a windows service. This way all content stays local. I am looking into ways to integrate it into the Plex Media Server UI. There will be premium Features still for 1 dollar a month or 10/year, 30/Lifetime, if you have already donated upon release send me an email using the address you used for paypal/Google Wallet and I will give you a lifetime key as a thanks for your support. I spend a lot of time on plex notify and there is thousands and thousands of lines of code in the New Plex Notify.
the premium features will be:
Email Notifications
Facebook and Twitter notifications
Advanced statistics, getting stats on bandwidth use, Genre, actors, Writers, Director, Producer, Studio, Country and content rating (R, PG13 , ect) for Shows and Movies.
Request box for users to send Media requests to.
Beta Builds with the latest and greatest features.
??? More in the future.
Note these features will not be available until release. For non premium all existing features that are in the alpha will be will be available. I will try to keep as much free as possible but have enough features premium so users paying can feel like that are getting something for their money.
The API will be changing to allow for a key to be passed for subscribers.
Plex Notify is almost 1 year old and I cannot that everyone enough for their support. I will continue to make Plex Notify the best that it can be and will continue to value the users input.
Thank you so much for putting it back up...would love to support any premium features you will put out.
James, good to hear you dumped that "partner". Clearly they were not thinking of you as an equal partner.
Very happy to hear of what the new business model is going to be. A lifetime sub makes the most sense for me. Once it is up and running I would buy it. I was going to post a bug I found in Alpha the other day when I saw the "scorched earth" that your partner did and skipped posting. Do you still want bug reports for Alpha (.110-.111) or do these having nothing at all to do with the Beta?
Welcome back!
Very happy that you are keeping with the local service. I am totally on board with subscriptions to support this product!
Thanks again for all you do and continue to do.
Looking forward to the premium features. Will surely opt for the lifetime subscription.
When’s this coming to Mac?
Is support for Notify My Android coming? I've read a lot of pages, but couldn't find an answer and to read 96 pages is a lot, lol!
so I finally got off my A and installed the alpha. so far so good. with my particular use case I’m using Plex notify to send pushover notifications to my android device which I use with tasker to implement some home automation triggers based on Plex client playback. One thing I would love are content type tags (movie, TV, music) in the notification title or description. that way I could create lighting triggers based on the content type being played eg. dim the lights if tasker detects the movie tag in the pushover title or message.
Just noticed the various tag options displayed at the bottom of the settings UI it was previously cut off because of my screen resolutionso I finally got off my A and installed the alpha. so far so good. with my particular use case I'm using Plex notify to send pushover notifications to my android device which I use with tasker to implement some home automation triggers based on Plex client playback. Hi Everyone, I was jyst wondering if this project is still alive?
Yep, still in development. Had a bumpy road for a while there.
Are we sure about that, didn't see any sign of life for 1 month now... Just worry
Yeah, he has some major set backs. If you read the last couple pages of this thread you'll see what I'm talking about.
