Running a linux server.
Did a server upgrade and put a Nvidia p2200 gpu in to look after remote streaming and free up the cpu to do other things. Great card!. When I use this card is it suppose to transcode everything that is remotely streamed?. I’m assuming it doesn’t do direct play. No big deal, this card is a little monster.
this may be relevant
gpu is not needed for direct play, and only affects when a video is being transcoded.
gpu does not help with audio conversion or provide any other server performance benefits outside of the video transcoding.

Make sure you get P2200 and not the P2000 that’s a little older card and not much difference in price. I put it on a Asus Rog Strix x470 gaming F board, with a Ryzen 3900x. Have a little horsepower to do multiple things now. I was having the Unraid server freezing up with my Ryzen 1700x. I went big or shut it down LOL…Beautiful system now, we will see if the idle power issues stay away. Only been running 12 hours at the longest, been rebooting off and on changing things. You will enjoy this card

this long thread may be of interest (or not), its not specific to p2000 or p2200, its more about 4k transcoding, but has a lot of related gpu transcoding links/information/discussion.

otherwise, not sure what kind of response you were expecting, your questions should be answered by the plex article and/or the 4k faq thread.
Appreciate that, will have a look. I don’t think people should worry about 4k remote streaming at this point in time. You are not going to get the quality you are looking for. I don’t share my 4ks. Just my opinion, lots of people share them.
Just an update: The remote fire stick lost its settings. Must of happened when the power went out. After fixing back to direct play.
