Plex on Apple TV only plays audio through one homepod mini

So this is a weird and quite specific issue. I have a homepod mini stereo pair used with my Apple TV. Whenever I play content coming from the plex app with this setup. Sound only comes out of one speaker (instead of both).

Here is what I tried to troubleshoot the issue (and try to find it’s root):

  • I ungrouped and re-grouped my homepod minis
  • I tried playing movies with 5.1 and plain stereo (to see if the issue came from sort of channel mismatch) to no avail
  • I tried plugging in analogue speakers directly to my monitor (stereo works just fine then)
  • I tried playing content from non-plex apps (Stereo works just fine on Apple TV+ shows)

Therefore the issue seems to really be coming from plex.

Do you guys know of any way this issue could be solved?
