Plex on Apple TV will only allow playback of tv shows when I hit shuffle. If I try to pick a specific episode it won’t play. No error just won’t play. We have a fire stick and it works fine. Anything I can do? I tried refreshing the server and deleting the app. This has worked fine for a year.
What version of Plex for Apple TV do you have installed?
Are you only talking about the play button showing on the tv-show level (where there’s an actual shuffle button) or on the season / episode level (where the shuffle command can be found in the ... menu)?
Newest version of Plex and Apple TV newest generation. Any of the shuffle levels work but selecting an episode returns you to the previous Screen. So it starts working as if it’s gonna launch and then stops. Again this works on both Roku and Firestick on the same server.

What do you mean with “returns you to the previous screen”?
Does it try to play the video, fails and returns to the episode selection or does clicking the play button of an episode return you to the show / home page?
Can you play that particular episode via the web or on a different client?
Meaning it starts buffering like it’s going to play and then stops and returns to the episode selection screen. I can play episodes from all other sources. This only plays episodes when I hit shuffle all
The question is if you can play that particular episode on a different Plex client (e.g. Plex Web) – this is to rule out something’s wrong with the file itself, causing Plex to not being able to play it
Yes I said I only have trouble on Apple TV and shuffle will play all episodes but just not in the order I want

Then get the logs from that device and add them here

In the settings of the Plex app on your Apple TV you’ll find an option to “enable” logs. Once enabled you can download the logs from http://[IP of the Apple TV]:32500/logging (this URL is also displayed with the setting where you enable the Apple TV logging – including the correct IP address).

Yes so it seems that it doesn’t like “TV Shows” as a library anymore. If I add the same content at the same folder path but choose movies or “other videos” it works. But I need it to be under TV shows because of how I organize them.
Anyone?
