Plex on Firestick Stops Playing after 25 minutes

Server Version#: 1.26.0.5715
Player Version#: Whatever is current in the Firestick appstore.

Impressive media server, guys! Client software, not so much.

The server side is working fine and plays well out of a browser on a PC

However, the Plex client app on my Firestick 4K Max > Samsung Receiver > JVC Screen, not so much.

It plays for ~25 minutes, then the screen dims to black and the music, as it were, stops.

Pressing SELECT on the Firestick remote starts things again. Repeat from above line.

All screen savers and power saving options on the receiver, TV and Firestick are disabled (OFF or NO).

Any ideas?

UPDATE: Just noticed similar behaviour on my Oppo phone. Plex client stops playing when screen dims.

Found a solution, if it helps someone:

Hi. I don’t think the solution to this issue (Firestick goes to sleep after 20 mins of playing Plex Music) is to turn off the auto sleep function on the Firestick. The default for all Firesticks is 20 mins of “inactivity” and then it goes to sleep. I want that standard function to always be on (for all my apps). For example, I’ll be watching Netflix and the movie ends (as I’m sleeping) and 20 mins later my Firestick “Sleeps”. That’s the way it should be. Something has changed in the Plex for Firestick app. Now when I play music using that app, I get the black sleep screen after 20 mins of listening to music and must run back into the room, hit a button on the remote (to wake the firestick) and then the music continues on. This didn’t happen before. I can play Spotify all day long on the Firestick and it doesn’t “sleep” once as music plays. If I pause the music, and let it sit for 20mins….yes it then “sleeps”. As it should. I also don’t have this issue with my AppleTV. It doesn’t go to sleep when I play Plex music using its Plex App. Only if I stop playing music in Plex, will my AppleTV go to sleep.

Help…… this is quite annoying…… having the Plex Media Server Music stop playing because the Firestick goes to “sleep”. This didn’t happen before. I have a Firestick 4K Max btw.

I agree that it would be better if the fire-tv would be more aware that an app is running, and not go to sleep.

Jeez, even when playing Amazon Music the stupid thing would go to sleep. I mean, how dumb is that?

Anyway, I don’t care. The above kludge solved the problem on the Fire-TV and a couple of Android TV devices I have around the house. I’ll leave it at that.
