Plex (on rasbperry pi) cant see my files on external HDD

Hello forum,

I had some trouble today after installing plex on my raspberry pi 3B+.
Plex can not see my data folder on my external HDD.
Inside this folder are video’s.
The external HDD is a NTFS file system.

Does someone know how i can fix this?

Thanks in advance

It looks like that drive was auto-mounted by Gnome’s file manager. If so, there are some exclusivity issues which prevent any user other than your own from being able to access that drive, regardless of the permissions you set. As Plex runs as user ‘plex’ on Linux, this poses a problem.

@ChuckPa has written an excellent how-to guide to address mounting external disks on Linux for use with Plex:

Carefully following the steps outlined should get you going.

Thanks for the help!
Everything works fine now!

No problem, glad you got it working.
