Plex on Raspberry Pi 3

Can you please - please - please port some Plex client to the Raspberry Pi? begging

I’ve been trying it all, and either one has to install a whole Plex oriented OS or it is simply not optimised for running on a Pi… It’s a nightmare out there, with the change from PHT to PMP, Embedded Platforms downloads, openELEC textmode hacks, multiple plugins for Kodi, and none of it really works without turning your Pi to a fulltime Plex device (and even then).

It is awesome to see how many platforms Plex supports, but when I look at the price of that new Netgear router, I quickly stopped smiling :stuck_out_tongue: It would be so amazing to as easily install PMP on my Raspberry Pi, as it is on some smart TV, Playstation, Fire TV stick, …

So please, pretty please, tell me some day soon I can go to plex.tv/downloads, and simply download some raspbian/debian installer to install PMP as one of a lot of programs? Are there some plans? Is this something that is on the roadmap for PMP?

Hi

There is a plex client… Called RasPlex.

I played with the Pi 3 as well
I over clocked it… et al.
It was never able to play a video… constant chop…

Can’t imagine what a mess it would be as a PMS. LOL

The Pi is fun to play with but that is about it.

PMP embedded for pi is a disaster at the moment… dont waste your time…

openPHT a much better experaince and setting up the wifi doesnt require plugging into a wired conntection, ssh and shell commands…

if you need pi for double duty, not ideal, but I have cards with openPHT and other operating systems and reboot as needed…

never seen someone try to make it work as a desktop app, probably doesnt have the horsepower for that …

There is already a build of PMP for the Raspberry Pi3. It is called ‘PMP embedded’.
Just use the same file as for the RasPi2

LOL
You had better luck than I did…
Too Cool

I have 5 RPi3s running RasPlex around the house all direct playing content from my server with no issues at all including DTS-HD.MA files and MVC MKVs.

Don’t know what I did wrong…
RPi3 could not play any plex served media without stuttering and my RasPi3 was CAT 6 connected
LOL
