Im trying really hard not to join in on all the complaints. Ugh. It’s getting tough. Just went to watch a movie today and can no longer access audio settings. Whereas before if a movie had more than one audio track, like English and Spanish, or audio commentary and just movie audio, you could access that. Not anymore. Now any movie with multiple languages or audio commentary, has just one option. In fact you don’t even see any audio options. And take a guess which track its defaulting to? Think it just plays the movie audio? Nope. Default to commentary. Unless its a movie that has multiple languages. Then it plays whatever language……….isnt English. So if you have your preference set to English and movie has russian and English audio, better believe its playing the russian. Which it may have done previously………but i had the damn option to go into settings and switch. Good job plex. You FINALLY wore me down. Add me to the chorus of pissed off people.

To select a specific audio track:

From the movie/episode pre-play screen, select the three dots (more) → Playback settings → Streams. Move to the audio track then press the right arrow button. Additional audio tracks, if present, will be displayed.

If you’re already playing the file, press the down arrow on the remote to pull up the on-screen controls. Then select the speaker icon, on the left, below the progress bar.

Regarding auto-selection:

Configure Audio & Subtitle settings in your Account Settings: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/account.

The audio and subtitle tracks must also be tagged with the correct language.

Also note that Plex Media Server remembers manual selections for audio & subtitle tracks. If you manually select a track, Plex will remember it the next time you play the same file. It will not return to the auto-selected track.

Yeah, i know how to select a different audio track when more than one is available. What you described is how it worked, PREVIOUSLY. Since the update to the new interface you can no longer do that. It doesn’t give you audio options, either in the pre play menue or during playback

Yes, it does. I confirmed it on my Roku before writing my reply.

Perhaps t’would help if you could snapshot the screen you’re looking at?

Kudos. It works on yours. Doesn’t help me as since updating it doesn’t on mine. First two pics are the 3 dot menu on movie page. Last pic is menu while movie is playing. On the left bottom is the subtitle menu and video quality. No option for audio.

Can’t see the screenshots. Imgur is busy. You can add them to the thread. Drag them into the message window and wait for them to upload.

Not doubting you’re having problems. Just saying that the options to select audio/subtitle tracks still exist.

Which Roku are you using? It is possible the problem is model specific. I’ve the Streaming Stick 4K, with Plex app v8.6.5

Have you tried restarting the Roku. That has cleared up other issues some were experiencing.

Also, does the problem exist with all movies/shows with multiple tracks or just some?

I just doublechecked several files on my Roku TV’s and like FordGuy61 am able to change audio track. Realize this doesn’t help you so could you maybe post the mediainfo for that file being played? Is it possibly in a format unrecognized by Roku / Plex?

Here’s a five second clip from a blu-ray rip (part of a studio logo sequence from a movie). It has English, French, & Spanish audio and subtitles.

Add it to a Other Videos library then open it with the Roku app. See if you can view/select the different audio/subtitle tracks.

I just looked at my own, and I have far more options than he shows here. It appears he’s in the right place, just doesn’t have everything.

Plex Roku app v8.6.5.

Using the test video, here’s what I see from the pre-play screen.

If playing the file, there is a speaker icon to the left of HD. Selecting it shows the same audio choices. Selecting the subtitle icon shows the same subtitle choices.

Exactly!!! As i said, i used to have far more options. I used to be able to go into the menu and see audio options. Not just subs and video. Now………since its been updated, i no longer have that option. I think some people think im looking for help. Im well aware this USED TO BE a option and im aware how to access those settings. Im just venting about the god awful update that they just rolled out to roku players recently. People have been complaining non stop on Reddit about how the app is almost unusable now. A lot of people. Fortunately for me, i rarely used ios. Most of my viewing has been local network on roku. Well they have been slowly rolling it out to roku and it hit mine within last few weeks.
