Plex on TCL 55R617 No Longer Sorts By Folder

Perhaps I am confusing the multiple UIs available across the different devices I use.

But I believe there was a way to group the media on my server by folder on my Roku-powered TCL TV. I just tried to go into the different tabs, Recommended, Library, and Playlists, however there are no filterable options as I recall.

Has this feature been moved or removed?

Filterable options look like labels in the UI :frowning: when you’re on the Library tab/view.

Go here:

and scroll down to:

Library (Browse the Media)

Thanks for the link, but I don’t see that on my TV.

Is there something I’m missing?

Yeah, you definitely don’t have the latest version of Plex for Roku on that TV… though I don’t know why not.

Can you try deleting the Plex app and re-installing? If that doesn’t work please find the Roku OS version on that TV and/or make sure it’s updated to the latest version possible. (see p. 126 of the user manual: https://www.tclusa.com/sites/default/files/2018-05/6-Series-Roku-User-Guide.pdf)

I have removed and readded the Plex app. Ran a System Updates afterwards just to be safe, and nothing needed updating. Still no option at the top of the screen.

Roku TV: 7120X
TCL Model: 55R617
Software Version: 9.1.0 build 4917-30

Does any of that indicate anything? I’m 100% certain I was previously able to sort by folders in the Plex app on this TV. The first thing I watched when I got this TV set up was a few episodes of Archer, and I must’ve been going through the folder system to do that.

Any further ideas? Is this likely a bug that will be fixed in the best version? Or am I SOL for now?

Could you enable ā€œRemote Loggingā€ in the Roku Plex Channel, in the user settings. Then browse to the library that doesn’t expose the filter options. Once done, disable remote logging and report back with the time/timezone and username.

I have two libraries. One is for movies and the other is for television (organized on my MyCloud Mirror drive by myself). The movies library does show the filterable options as expected. It’s the television one that does not. I only navigated to the television one while I had logging enabled.

Let me know if there’s anything more I can do to help!

Thanks for the logs. I looked over them and sadly don’t see any reason in the logs for not showing the filters. Would it be possible to share the library that doesn’t work? if so, please feel free to add ljunkie as a friend and I’ll be happy to troubleshoot locally here.

I have added you as a friend with the ability to see both of my libraries. It is just the My Cloud TV library that has an issue seeing the filters, but in case you needed access to both, you have it.

Thanks! You invited me to your home, which I cannot accept. Please add me as a ā€œfriendā€ instead through the ā€œShare Librariesā€ button below your home users.

Sorry about that. Should be good now.

Thanks! I was able to reproduce the issue using the official channel. It looks like we already fixed the issue in a recent Preview update. Please install the Preview channel to see if that corrects issue for your.

Yup, the Preview channel presents as expected. Is there anything that I need to do? Is there anything that I need to roll back?
