I recently bought the 2TB My Passport Wireless SSD and loaded Plex server onto it. All of the content I transcoded for the native file to stream to my TCL Roku TV, I watched a few movies a couple of weeks ago, worked great. All of a sudden, it won’t let me proceed to my library without an internet connection. I went out and bought an Apple TV 4K to try and play Plex through that, the same issue, it connects to the wireless device but won’t work without the internet.
Is there a way to fix this? I haven’t done anything to the TV or drive (that I’m aware of unless there was an auto-update recently) This is for our RV so there’s many if not most of the time where we won’t have any access to the internet. Thanks!
Get something you can sync the content to which you can play offline.
The new windows app allows sync and other mobile devices like iPhone or Android phone.
Are you aware of anything by chance that allows that that can plug into a TV via HDMI? I’d like to have a permanent solution onboard to make things simple for the kids to access and without having to tie up or hand over my phone. Thanks!
Most laptops have an HDMI out, most phones and tablets support an MHL cable that will do the same thing.
can you post a screenshot or picture ?
Unless you switched users or logged out of the tv client, then it should continue to work without internet.
Plex will need internet if you switched users or are trying to setup a new device.
The nvidia shield works as both a client and server, so might make a good RV system that can be used offline (again, only after initial setup).
There is a new shield about to be released this month, so if that is something you might be interested in, I would recommend waiting for the new release.
