Glad to see I'm not the only one who wants this, lol. Would gladly pay $50 for this.
+1 for this, would gladly pay for this. I love Plex and the Xbox One is a dream, this would be amazing.
+1
I think that Plex for Xbox one is pretty essential for the ecosystem. We have apps for iOS, Android, all desktop platforms including win8. I think the port would be pretty easy as long as the developers at plex put some time toward it. The hardware its self is not that expensive and has plenty of horse power and all the hardware requirements of a full featured living room media center. I would seriously pay extra outside of my plex pass for this app! It seriously would make my living room a one stop place for watching TV. Can we get a developer to comment on this so we can know if this is every going to happen?
I found this post in a Win8 thread. It's over a month old but at least at that time it doesn't sound like they were considering it. I'm regretting my Xbox One purchase more every day.

I refuse to believe it! ;)
I still have very high hopes that the Xbox One will be my perfect htpc replacement.
Agreed, adding my support, would happily pay for a Xbox One client.
Xbox One does a great job as a HTPC but without a Plex client I'm continually having to use plex via a second laptop / Roku etc..
Search the market place for "media smart". It's the best looking app for dlna pull request and sending it to the XBOX ONE. AND you get your PLEX Metadate shown :-)
I have to say, Microsoft is really being stupid about this. Xbox One -- called "One" because it's supposed to be the one media center component that will do *everything.* I feel like, based on what I've read, Microsoft wants to keep their system closed to local media streaming playback except through whatever (inevitably) terrible integrated software they have built in.
I'd love to replace my PS3 and Roku with a unified system that can play my movies, and the XBox One could be that unit.
Microsoft is apparently running a special until early March where they'll give you $100 towards XBox One if you turn in your old PS3. Since I'm not really a gamer, this would be a great deal for me -- but without a Plex App, I see absolutely no reason to make this jump.
So frustrated.
Would pay $100
I don't know what needs to happen from PLEX's end to get a PLEX app on the Xbox One, but please do whatever it takes!
I suspect Microsoft is the roadblock, not the Plex dev’s.
I for one would rather the Plex team focus on things other than an XBox One client. I don't see the benefit.
Some posters have said they "miss" this -- which was never there, never promised. A number of posters have said they'd be happy to pay $50. Xbox games seem to be $59. Live is about the same ($60) per year as Plex Pass was for life ($75). Amazon prime (for instant video) is also $79. So, sure, let's play *less* than all the other things that go into an Xbox? Not sure that would fly very far...
I guess I don't "get" the XBox One (although I love the short form "XBone"). What is this toy supposed to do so much better than the XBox 360 and all of the other apps and gadgets out there (if it's not better games, especially)? When the marketing started with "you can watch tv through it!", I went, "um, okay, so, why?"
I bought an Xbox (the original one) to use it as a media extender. That was a total joke.
Then I bought an Xbox 360 (a white one), primarily to use as a media device. The one piece of DRM'd content that I paid for will not play anymore (the license is there, it's on my account, it downloads, it just gives a DRM error if you ever try to play it.) Then it Red-Ringed. It was replaced. The new one was so noisy that I can't stand to have it on.
We just snagged a bargain on an Xbox 360S (a black one), and it's tolerable. The kids like the games. The kids see the Xbox One in the stores and get a lustful look in their eyes. But neither they, nor any of my friends can explain what the One would bring to benefit our life -- except of course having to buy a new library of games and replace all of the controllers and accessories.
So my vote would be that an XBox client would not be worth the time or the large investment of cash needed.

I´m sorry.. But this post just annoys the hell out of me. So, because you dont see the benefit of a machine that will be sold in the TENS of MILLIONS units - it's not worth looking at? You do realize that the Xbox 360 has been sold in bigger numbers then most media STB's .. combined.
And I say this with all the respect in the world for the Plex dev team - but are you comparing a single platform media client to games that cost millions of dollars to develop? That's just absurd. Not to say that I would gladly pay the equivalent amount for Plex on XBone.
But not understanding why a new and better console is an improvement, is like not understanding why progress is neccesseary in technology.
The XBone has all the potential in the world to become the #1 all-in-one media center for the living room. Gaming, TV, media playback, both digital and optical. What more could any user possibly ask for?
I've never owned an Xbox and probably won't own the XBone, always been a PS4 fanboy. But if Plex was released in XBone, I'd switch teams in a heartbeat.
xbox one internet explorer plays all my movies in full screen and 5.1 surround sound. I simply navigate to plex.tv, login and see my whole library all from xbox one internet explorer.
xbox 360 can access plex media files through the video player. xbox one can access plex media server using the internet explorer. I plays all my movies full screen with 5.1 surround sound. all you have to do is go to plex.tv, login and launch.
rdangelo:
No it does not work, because IE on XBOX One does not support HLS Streaming.
If you really found out how to make this work pls give us a step by step information. And the type of media u did use is also interesting for us.
I"m assuming all of his videos are in mp4 format, It would be nice to get a dev response on if they are considering it or not. I'd like to know so that I can plan on spending $ on a new device when this one breaks, or if I should wait and spend $ on a new plex app.
Boomalator is an obvious troll, Don't feed the trolls.

MP4 format and don't have subtitles. None of my MP4 movies with subtitles will play. Those without subtitles play just fine. Still, trying to play movies through the Xbox One's IE is a pain. Its a meager workaround but not very friendly and has issues sustaining playability.
Well, in-browser playback on a media center is a hack, at best. A last resort type of thing.
I have to add my voice to the chorus hoping for an Xbox 1 Plex client and I don't even have one.
I currently have a setup where I watch my ripped movies and backed up TV on Plex on my PC, Games/Netflix/Amazon/MLB on my Xbox 360, "regular" tv on my Dish Network DVR.
Plex is one of the things that would encourage me to buy an XBox 1 so that the same box/remote could play Blu-Rays, my recorded content, my commercial streaming content and even control the satellite DVR. One box, one solution and a lot less "remote confusion" for the wife.
Yes, I'd pay money for that client. I've already paid for a lifetime Plex Pass and I have no qualms about supporting the developers further.
