I purchase Plex Pass for a year very recently. I bought it for the enhanced Music features, primarily to add or correct metadata from my music library. How long, before I see the new data, I still see songs with bad or missing data.
It won’t happen automatically. You have to recreate your library and select Premium Music while creating it. Basic libraries can’t be converted.
You may be disappointed in the claims of " Better Artwork, Artist Bios, Album Reviews" that Plex cites. In my own experience, I encountered about as many (but different) metadata errors using Gracenote as I did with the basic libraries and Last.fm. It took about the same amount of work to correct the errors with each service, although the Premium libraries took away some of the ability to fix an incorrect match. When I try to do so, it never gives more than one possible match, which is the one I’m trying to correct, so what’s the point? The Basic libraries are actually better in this regard, in my opinion.
Both services are absolutely horrible at matching classical music. I eventually put in the effort to fix the ID3 tags embedded in my music files, and took every step to minimize any dependence on Last.fm OR Gracenote.
I recommend not deleting your existing library before creating the new one. They can exist side by side, and I would recommend comparing the results to see which you prefer.
I see what you mean, thanks
