Plex Pass for me... but not for my friend?

I have purchased a Plex pass for myself and I’ve also added my friend who is in another country to access my server over the web interface and so all of his views are tracked under his account and not mine. Why is it that he has to pay for his own Plex pass just to access my server on his mobile device etc? Why can he not have the same benefits that I have and that I am actually paying for? Why is this a double money grab?

Why ask why?

Drink Bud Dry.

Hang on… this is my partner who lives overseas… they don’t have access to a plex server nor do they have access to my local LAN… so the only thing they have access to is through a shared account which forces them to sign up before they can even access my server… THEN on top of that… they can’t use it the same way I can use it which is unfair on them.

He doesn’t need to subscribe to a Plex pass, just to use the mobile app. A one-time payment in the app store is sufficient.

Second option: you invite him into your Plex home. That way he can use the mobile app for free.
But it also gives him the possibility to easily switch into your admin account, if he can guess your PIN correctly.

5 Bucks once and then s/he can enjoy the Plex goodness on his/her mobile device. No Plex pass needed for him/her.

The people working for Plex also want something to eat.
