Plex Pass - is it necessary for music streaming

Hi,

I’m new to the forum, so please forgive me if this is placed in the wrong section.

I received an offer from Plex to buy the lifetime Plex pass for 37% off. What I want to know is if the Plex Pass will benefit me.

Currently, I set up a laptop as a temporary server, and stream music to my iPad for listening with Bluetooth speaker (I made a one-time purchase on my iPad to remove time restriction).

I will soon buy a QNAP NAS and move my library (mostly FLAC) there. I would like to enjoy some FullHD movies from time to time, but it’s not my main goal.

Without Plex Pass, can I set up the NAS to be the server, and keep streaming music on my iPad as before?

Thank you very much!

Yes.

With Plex Pass, you’ll also get access to the Plexamp app.
And you’ll be able to use loudness levelling and sweet fades in the regular app, too.

I heard about Plexamp, but I feel like this app is targeted towards audiophile. I prefer listening to high quality music through my dedicated DAP and wired headphones rather than via Bluetooth speaker
I’m just afraid that the Plex Pass is overkill for my purpose

No, it’s not (yet). It is targeted at music lovers. And it has nothing directly to do with Bluetooth (although you can use it on a mobile phone to stream audio to your car stereo etc.)
I am using it on my desktop computer with external DAC and studio monitors, btw.
