https://support.plex.tv/articles/ is usually a good starting point.
There’s e.g. guides on how to setup Plex or how to prepare your media (naming, preferred folder structures).

If the mentioned server version is a Syno, there’s also a bunch of more detailed FAQs
As for media playback, Plexamp is the way to go (though it requires a Plex Pass membership and you can alternatively stream your media via browser or the regular Plex apps).
thanks Tom. I’m a newbie who bought a Synology NAS and I’m looking to use it to play music. I’ll chack out plex amp and how to install it into my NAS.
is there no way to avoid monthly recurring costs of Plex Pass? I mean, am i required to have Plex Pass in order to run Plex Amp? I mean, the reason I bought the NAS and serve my own music was to avoid all these monthly recurring service charges…urgghhh!
You don’t need a Plex Pass to run a Plex Media Server. The Plex Pass membership is mostly about some advanced features… you can test those out once you setup your server and everything is running (e.g. by opting for a 1-month membership).

Plexamp is a Plex client app that’ll play media from your server. Compared to the regular Plex apps it’s much more optimized for music
You can get a lifetime PLEX Pass for a one time fee of $199.99.
