Plex Pass referral commission program

What if Plex had a commission program; you get 10% of the Plex Pass proceeds for users you refer? If that were in place maybe the people actually running servers—which I assume constitute the main reason for anyone else to use Plex in the first place—would be more inclined to push Plex Pass subscriptions on their users.
As it is, I’m supposed to push them to subscribe so they can get features they might like, and I get minimum technological satisfaction knowing that they’re, what, skipping intros? Not a great program currently.

I can’t ask all of my (unmanged) home users to buy a plex pass

Either way. You are supposed to vote for your own feature request.

I don’t know your situation, but I assume you could but desire not to. Some monetary incentive might encourage you otherwise.

Right now it’s just all users (including non-home users) being encouraged to check out all these cool new features only to find that they’re behind a recurring paywall. When my users approach me to say WTF, I just nod and reply “yes, WTF indeed”. If something were in it for me then I might be more inclined to respond “these features are amazing and you should help support Plex to gain access to them.” Now, I do support Plex, but I don’t push that onto others. I often pay for software I seldom use, explicitly to support developers, but that’s altruistic, very different from the general assumption that users pay for perceived value.

unfortunately, the only value to plexpass for non-server-owners, is skip-ahead, and plexamp.

And while neat features, simply insufficient value for the cost of plex pass, especially when multiplied out to several family members.

Yeah. I figure we’ll see most major new features fall behind the Plex Pass paywall, so the incentive will increase. But in terms of pure value, you’d have to add a LOT of nice features to rival other streaming services that typically have similarly rich feature sets in addition to thousands (or more) of times the content found on even the biggest Plex servers.
Absent some reason for server owners to help push Plex Pass subscriptions on their users, I don’t imagine any combination of new features will be enough for most to decide to purchase (unless they’re the type to just throw money at their phone anytime a window pops up, in which case they probably already have a Plex Pass).

Even if this topic has 3yr old, just to make sure that new Googlers type “referral fees on plex”, let me tell you this:
“one day, my best friend told me, <where there a system that allows me to cut the crap in downloading my songs on my news forum, at affordable price, I buy it, without any hesitation>”
Boom, 2 weeks later, I was on Spotify, and I realize I did the best thing in my life in years (after setting all the personal privacy ones).
Tehn the rest is history: when he came about Plex, in the next hour, I bought the lifetime membership, and I was sync’ing his own server, and streaming and 'all :sunglasses:.

Long story short: don’t even bother mate, you’re in!
