Plex pass with no hardware transcode option on plex media server

Server Version#: 1.23.5.4862
Player Version#: Version 4.59.2

Info about my setup. And yes I have Plex Pass purchased, I’m on the monthly plan.

NAS: DS220+ (DSM 6.2.4-25556)

INTEL Celeron J4025

6 GB RAM

Plex Media Server: Version 1.23.5.4862 (NOT via Docker)

When I go to my settings on my Plex Media Server, I don’t see a “Server” option on the left hand side at all. According to a plex article, to find hardware acceleration, I need to go to Settings > Server > Transcoder. But I do not see that.

What I do see, is a section on the left called “Transcoder”, but no option for Hardware Acceleration. Here’s a screenshot. Settings here

Is this really the only option? And would I have to do this same thing in the future, if for some reason I deactivate plex pass, but then reactivate it later? Also, what’s the best way to install plex on my DS220+, because I think when I originally did it, I went through a guide.

Ok so, after I uninstalled it, I restarted my NAS. I then downloaded the newest media server download for my Synology NAS (x64 intel), and initiated a manual install. It didn’t force me to do ANY setup or initialization at all. It’s almost like everything was cached. All my libraries and settings were already there pretty much. But, it does now show the hardware acceleration option, which is good.

The big problem now is, my CPU is constantly at 55% on my NAS, and when I look at the task manager, it shows a process called ‘Plex Transcoder’ at 50% usage. And even when nothing it playing, when I don’t have Plex open, it still shows it. The only way to fix it, is to go to the Package Center and go to Plex and click on “Stop”.

So it seems we fixed one problem, but created another. Here’s a screenshot.
