I love PLEX. Often tempted by lifetime plex pass deals. Never do. One thing makes me afraid to take advantage. Two things would make it worth it to me.
The ONE thing that scares me about dropping that much money on a lifetime PLEX pass, is i feel like, th emoment i drop that money on a lifetime pass, PLEX will make a decision that OBSOLETES either, my MEDIA, my hardware, or something like that. I don’t like being put into technological hostage situations.
One thing that would make a PLEX pass VALUABLE to me, woudl be the ability to have a watch party with 2 or 3 friends that made it so that mt kids who are away from home, and i, could watch a movie together from a movie on my server. All three of us would be able to pause, and maybe even have an text/audio/visual chat console. Either like chat heads, or a footer chat window in web browser. The ability to watch and comment together like we do when we are in the same room would be amazing. Through the PLEX app, with a plex pass, i’d be able to send them invites which would pop up as notifications in their plex app, or web interface, then we’d all be able to start the movie/music which would play on all f our devices, synced, and we’d be able to text/see/hear each other.
Another thing that would make it worth it would be able to ‘lend’ a movie to a friend. Just a single link to a single movie title, that would time out in like a week or a few days. They could stream it from my server.
These things would make a plex pass worth it TO ME.
