Any chance of Plex developing an API for this sometime in the future? It would be great to get this on the Shield and the Xbox plex app if possible.
Have you checked out the Plug-in’s? There’s at least one plug-in for Hue lights.

At the risk of this being closed and someone referring me to the three year old thread…
OP is referring to a different use case. Integration with Hue Entertainment goes beyond just turning lights on and off when you start or stop media, it synchronizes brightness and colors of a selected set of lights with on-screen content.
It sounds awesome, but Philips has been pretty quiet about it since announcement back in September. I can’t find anything actually acknowledging that Plex team is interested in implementing the integration either.
Oh well, dare to dream.

Philips will announce the first Hue Entertainment Partners tomorrow.
I hope Netflix will be one of them and of course it would be pretty cool if Plex will follow soon.
Never got the HelloHue Channel working properly. It just turns off the light when I start the media and that’s it. No reaction when pausing or stopping or during the movie at all.
Would love to see Plex partner with Philips on this. HelloHue is very limited and doesn’t work with all devices.

In hello hue I can control the lights from within the hello hue settings, but it won’t interact automatic with play-pause and stop
Would be so awesome if plex could integrate phillips hue entertainment. It would be a feature for every hue bulb owner.
The helloHue channel can turn on/off the lights - but can not sync the lights with a movie colors.
I would love to sync my hue lamps with my media in plex!
