I don’t get it. I’m viewing my photos in Recently Added Photos… I come across this Movie Trailer that’s not on my system and I cannot find it. NO, the setting for Cinema Trailers before movies is not checked. The Name of the movie Trailer is “The Miracle Season”
What Plex client is this on ? App ? Version?
Is this a camera upload library ?
Screenshot showing the problem and server logs would help
Beforehand ensure server debug logging is enabled - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/
Restart the server to get fresh logs before getting the diagnostics for the problem
See this article for how to download the server logs https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/
I ended up deleting my photo library and reinstating it, that bug disappeared. The photos was not a Camera upload library, just a normal drag and drop folder.
HI sa2000 - this has been reported before. A quick search of the forums would help you. Here is one example - there might be others;
Thank you - my answer would still be the same. I would like some logs with debug enabled and information on versions of the client apps that exhibit the problem
In any case in this forum topic it was stated that
. . . Movie Trailer that’s not on my system and I cannot find it. NO, the setting for Cinema Trailers before movies is not checked
Really easy to reproduce - turn on movie trailers, watch a couple. Then go to the ‘recently added photos’ and click left. It will bring up the movie trailers.
Attached is a screenshot I took about 3 minutes ago. I turned off movie trailers for this problem - that solved it.
Nothing in the log files which seem to help (btw, a lot of people hate posting log files. Please find a better way of doing this - I understand you need them, but in public?).
This was on;
Server Version 1.13.2.5154 (on OS-X)
Web Version Version 3.53.7
Not really easy because i did just that and i do not get any trailers.
What do you mean by click left ?
Could you take a video of the exact sequence or just say exactly what you click on and in what sequence. I would still like to see the requests that the web app is doing - we should only display extras for movies
Are there any videos in the photos libraries ? The Recently Added Photos hub is from all libraries including camera upload libraries
I forgot to say that my tests were using the beta released today 1.13.3.5208 - although i do not believe there was a change to this
Hmm, ok… bearing in mind I am turning on and off movie trailers to make this happen (since I first noticed it last year)
The process is:
{this bit probably not required when movie trailers already enabled}
In the web client:
Turn on Movie Trailers in settings/web/player: cinema trailers before movies
Start watching a film (i.e. get through the trailers (so they are downloaded))
{this bit is where a usual use would start, in the web client}
Go Home
Click on the first picture under the ‘Recently Added Photos’ hub (the one in the main screen, not anything in the left hand side menu) so that is is in ‘full screen’
When it comes up, click on the ‘<’ icon in the middle of the left hand side of the screen, it will then take you forward (in time) to the newly added trailers
{note: this works because of the time the trailers are added. If I watch a trailer on 26-June, when I go through the recently added photos this time next week, it will show up when I scroll right backwards in time until I get to the photos for 26-June}
I do have videos in the recently added photos section - these have come from when I have uploaded videos from my phone (enabled camera upload).
The trailers do not actually show up in the recently added photos hub (although my phone videos do) - they just appear when you are scrolling through them in full screen.
It doesn’t seem to happen if I go to the ‘photos’ section from the main left hand menu - perhaps that means its some search that the ‘recently added photo’ section is doing int he background?
I am not seeing a < on the left side. Only a > on the right side.
I am guessing, if the trailers aren’t being loadedinto your library (and are not dated on disk, later than your most recent photo) - then you won’t get the left arrow (as there is nothing newer).
I can do this for anytime, such that if I watch trailers one day (e.g: 25 June), then another day (e.g: 30 June) they will show up when I scroll right through 25 June photos - the data they are watched puts them in that day for recent photos.
Lets try this another way. Where does the recent photos hub search? Where are trailers downloaded to? It seems this is limited to the recent photos hub and it might be that that search is pulling in files it shouldn’t. I can certainly check local settings here for permissions etc.
I am sorry but it is the logs that give the clues to issues that make diagnosis easier and to isolate the problems
So, couple of things here:
What are you looking for in the logs, and I can grab the entries for you? (Bearing in mind, last time I looked, there were no relevant log entries)
What is your secure way of receiving logs, so that they aren’t in public?
I would be looking into the Plex Media Server.log at all log entries starting with all requests from the web client app with all requests following the first request that is for a GET /hubs/home/recentlyAdded?type=xx and up to the point when you open the first photo and click the < and the including the requests for the trailer
Ideally for a test where we know it is going to go wrong to have both debug and verbose logging
and would need the furst 4 lines of the log file which confirms the environment and version.
The forums is the place where logs are posted - zipped.
you can if you must add a password to the zip and send it to me by PM and if any other member of the support team / ninja needs it to follow up, you can send them password privately
We have a forums FAQ relating to logs
Hi - does this log sample help?
log_request.zip (10.2 KB)
I was on mobile all day - just tried to download but the download is failing with error - no file. Something went wrong perhaps when you posted
could you try again please
There was a forum issue. I have downloaded the file
I cannot put what i see in the log in context
What i can see is the following.
- At 12:01:51
Pacific Rim Uprising (clean trailer)played
May be thing happened before that
The log i have started at 12:01:51
Yes, thats the issue I am seeing - that is the movie trailer being pulled into the recently added photos;
GET /hubs/home/recentlyAdded?type=2 (11 live)
Jun 29, 2018 12:01:51.728
I also noticed over the weekend that this happens in the Amazon Fire TV client as well.
The log extract you gave me just covered the trailer being played - it did not cover the requests that formed the dashboard including the Recently Added Photos
The type=2 request you just pasted is for the Recently Added TV Shows.
Anyway we are not going to get very far with snippets of diagnostics
I need full logs - with debug logging enabled - best after adding some photos to the library so that we would not be using any cached data for the Recently Added hub and to wait few minutes after loading a new browser session and get the dashboard displayed and then seeing if the first photo in the Recently Added has a left < in the middle on the left side or not and selecting it and playing it and collecting whole logs zip -you can PM it to me. Would also help if you let me have a zipped copy of the server database file taken at that time after exiting Plex Media Server
