I’ve tried a lot of guides posted in the forums but nothing is working. I’ve even deleted and created a new library, but still I can only see trailers and extras on a few movies. Not all.
Help please.
- Your server needs to be signed in to your plex account for which you have the Plex Pass
- Plex needs to actually recognise your movies to fetch trailers.
- The ‘Plex Movie’ agent must be active, either as the movie library’s default agent or as an additional datasource for TheMovieDatabase.
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase <- ‘check’ the line ‘Plex Movie’ - if you are using a 3rd party agent, like the “.nfo importer”, there are no automatic trailers available
Post the XML info of one of your movies without trailers.

OK, this shows that 4) is not relevant and 1), 2) and 3) are fulfilled - so everything is as it should be.
Make double sure you have the following option ‘checked’:
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie - options of the Plex Movie agent (click on the ‘cog wheel’ icon at the right end of the line) “Find trailers and extras automatically (Plex Pass required)”
- activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
- quit Plex Server
- wait 1 minute
- empty the log folder
- start Plex Server
- wait 2 minutes
- either refresh one movie separetely, Make sure your internet connection is not saturated during the refresh.
- wait 5 minutes, then check the preplay page of the movie again for trailers
- repeat 7)+8) for 2 other movies
- shut down Plex server
- wait 1 minute
- zip up the whole log folder and attach it here

Just another question: Did you ever start PMS ‘As Administrator’?
What are those critical errors about, if I may ask? And what should I expect about this issue? I’m a little reluctant to keep paying for something that is not working for me…
Regarding administrator mode, I’ve never ran the server nor the setup in any special way. Just double click.

It appears to be a program fault in the agent that is responsible to fetch metadata and those trailers. It just displays an error message, which hopefully will enable the developers to produce a fix and release it in one of the coming Server software versions.

Hello, I have some issues like that.
When I add a movie sometimes takes all information complete. EX: Metadata, trailers (one at least) correct info.
Sometimes all complete, sometimes no sound media info, sometimes no extras, and no description , I need to refresh several times and 1 trailer comes with some extra metadata, but
Sometimes I can get a part only of the complete info non complete metadata (no description) under the poster don’t show the sound codec, only the resolution and channels ex: 1080p - NOTHING for the audio codec - 7.1
I try unmatched the file , delete the trash, match the file again, fix the unmatch file without success.
I try too, move the file to another directory outside of the library, refresh the library, empty the trash, restart the server and move again with to the folder. I re-check the name of the file, the mediainfo and everything is fine.
Sometimes click on refresh in the movie 3 times to get the metadata but the audio codec info still lost.
Some ideas?

Otto, do you think a fresh install could solve the issue? Do you have any idea of how the error could be solved?

I can’t tell. The developers need to analyse the error and then develop a fix.
You can try to re-install, but I doubt it will make a difference.
What you can try though, is to clear your local metadata caches and to reset all preferences for the movie metadata agents: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1197259/#Comment_1197259
hey @patozf - sorry for the delay on this, but I just tried to repro your issue and couldn’t. Are you still having problems (specifically with 310 to Yuma)?
Also, your logs show a lot of permissions issues, so please make sure Plex has access to all parts of your disk - that could also be the reason for a lot of your problems.
I know this is an old issue, but I’ve had it for a long time now, and only periodically made attempts to fix it.
I finally think I found the solution. With plex pass, all trailers should be available for all movies, but they only show on some. I’ve discovered that if I make a folder with the movie name inside the library, the move the movie file into that folder, plex reparses the movie and adds the trailer. It’s weird, but I did it for each of the Avengers/Marvel movies. Before I did it, none had trailers, and after, they all do.
I am having trailer issues with random movies and I cant fix it. I played around with some agent stuff but its still not adding trailer links. here is an xml.
