Plex PI Server Stuttering - I hope to get an answer from the admins this time

Dear all,

I have a following setup:

Raspberry PI 4B+ 4MB and external HD where the *.mkvs are stored. My Issue is that some of the video files are somehow “forced” to be transcoded by Plex app - I don’t know why.

If I play the file directly on the PI with an VLC Player there is no problem at all (with lagging or any other issues) my android tv box is in the same LAN network as the PI - Plex Server.

Do you have any Ideas why this issue keeps happening? I would really appreciate it!

encoding, whatever files are stuttering are either too high a bitrate, or in a format your player cant direct play. Resulting in the file being transcoded

Enable debug logging on the server (don’t enable “verbose” logging)
stop and restart the server
play one of the affected videos
wait 1 minute
fetch the server logs
open the Plex Media Server.log and find lines starting with MDE:.
These and the lines around them will explain the transcoding decision.
