Server Version#: 1.30.2.6563
Player Version#: various
I just moved from a windows plex server, to a plex server running on my raspberry pi. I got everything setup, and it works fine when I try to play anything.
However, a number of users on different clients are all reporting an error:
“Conversion failed: The transcoder exited due to an error.”
One user using Roku managed to solve this by changing “Direct Play” to forced, but I have a user on plex-web and another using iOS who are still getting this error.
The only thing common about all the files that are failing is they are MKV format with AAC 6 channel audio. However, I’ve personally tried it on android app, web app and the windows app and have no issues with the same files.
As a note- these issues did not occur when using windows server, only after moving to the raspberry pi
how would i go about downgrading though to see if that fixed it? It seems everyone is able to use the plex windows app fine so its definitely a player specific thing.
Server Linux was tagged - which does support hardware transcoding
Server Linux ARM was tagged - which does not support hardware transcoding.
Which CPU please (Vendor and SKU) ?
“Conversion Failed” automatically should convey to share the server’s DEBUG log ZIP file , which contains the failure, here for us to examine. (It would save at least one full round-robin Q&A cycle)
