If I start a movie from my television, it will not continue from the same place on my computer. The other way around it works just fine.
I can start a movie from my computer, continue it when I get in bed, but when I get back to my computer the next day it’s where the movie left off when I stopped it from my computer.
I guess the biggest question is: Do I require the application on my computer for playback to go from TV to Computer but not vice versa?
Be sure to stop, not just pause, playback. This includes stopping playback instead of just powering off the TV, streaming stick, etc.
If you exit playback, then Plex Media Server will store where you stopped playing. It will not do so if you pause playback, then watch on another device.
My issue only seems to happy going from TV to PC. I watch on PC with https, whereas I obviously use the Plex app on the TV. However, I would expect it to be broken both ways, not just TV to PC.
I understand how to stop a move, but still, what you’re saying still doesn’t work. PC to TV = stop/pause/whatever = works. TV to PC = stop/pause/whatever = never works. period.
I can watch a movie for 30 minutes on my computer, pause it, pick it up on my TV, go to sleep. Wake up and start it again on my PC, it’s where i paused it previously. I can start a movie on my TV, stop it, go to my PC and it’s like I never started it.
Note, there is not a way to “stop” watching on TV apps, as remotes don’t tend to have that button. Pause the video as always, but press the “go back” button to return to the movie/show’s summary page. That will guarantee that an item is truly stopped.
I find my iphone or tablet don’t save their progress unless i back out like this. If I pause and the screen locks (or I close the app), the progress is not retained.
