Plex Player for Mac - Live TV & DVR Failure

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1913
Player Version#: 1.3.1.916-1cb2c34d

Selecting “Live TV & DVR” in new Plex for Mac (UNO)… the Guide fails to display. An error message is displayed, “There was an unexpected error.” No other information is given. This occurs on three different Macs I own. However, Plex Media Player ( v: 3.104.2) does display the guide and works normally.

Same problem here using the desktop app on my Mac Pro. The web browser based app works fine though.

You are running a beta version of the server so that might be part of the issue. However I have reported this to the devs so we’ll see if they can track down the issue.

Same issue here on Mac. Screenshot and PMS logs if required, although I think it’s a client issue since it works from all of my other devices and the web client.

Same problem here - I updated to the .1913 Server on a Mini, the Plex app on my iMac no longer shows the guide. Plex Media Player on the iMac works fine. I deleted the Plex app & prefs, re-downloaded, and same problem.

Same issue after selecting Live TV & DVR using the Plex Player for Windows after updating the server to .1913 on Mac. No issues with Live TV/Guide on iPad.

Same issue here does not load says error through plex player but works in web ui. I also get ui flashing on home screen in plex player very pist…!!! plex seems like it’s going to ■■■■ these past few updates. Just switched from windows plex server to freenas system NAS System. Not easy to install updates on freenas at all either.

Anyone has server logs captured immediately after the reported error to go with a screenshot showing the time of the error?

This should be fixed in the next release which is coming soon-ish (but not before the weekend).

for what its worth, it is still working on the “old” Plex Media Player for Mac.

Same issue here.

I got {
“type”: “log:message”,
“level”: 1,
“message”: “[Connections] All connections to [Loopback] failed”,
“time”: “2019-10-11T23:49:33.687Z”
},

Exact same problem here on MACOS 10.13.6 with player 1.3.1.916 and QNAP PMS 1.18.0.1944. Installing the older version of the player worked. Safari works as usual (not well)

Older version from HERE

I’ve been told this issue is fixed in our 1.4 release. You can download a preview build here: Plex for Windows and Plex for Mac forum preview releases. The 1.4 release updated some fundamental libraries. It’s baking a bit longer than usual to ensure there’s no issues in hiding.

Could I mention a general issue here with the Mac Player app (presumably similar on windows) in that there is no mechanism from within the app to check for app update nor does it seem that there is an “autoupdate” or “update available” system. There is a pretty standard mechanism for this in Macintosh apps where there is a “check for update” menu bar option and the app warns you when an update is available. Can this be instituted please.

There is an autoupdate but it’s not for Preview releases which must be manually installed.

When 1.4 is publically released and if it’s not installed already, there will be a prompt to autoupdate.

This is also happening on Windows systems. My Plex Server is on Windows and I get an error trying to get to Live TV & DVR when using the Plex App on Windows on a different computer. However, I can get to the Live TV and DVR ability via a browser as well as my Roku.

Yes, and if you read this thread (it’s not that long!) you’ll see a solution was posted 5 days ago :slight_smile:

Any idea when the final version of 1.4 will be released?

Nope, Plex typically doesn’t mention release dates…
