Plex player on 4K firestick not automatically marking videos as watched/played or in progress

Player Version#: 8.7.3.21018

Unlike my other Plex player on Samsung Smart TV (2019), the one on 4K Firestick does not automatically mark videos (Movies or TV Shows) as watched/played or show them in progress.

This is my main Plex player, and I am running latest version of it, as well as latest Plex server version which is stored on my Windows laptop.

It does not matter if I manually start watching it via remote control or voice activate/start it via Alexa Echo Dot 3rd Gen.

Is there anyone else having this issue?

Yep. Same issue here. Can’t figure out any rhyme or reason to it yet so I haven’t posted my logs. I can’t get it to happen every time but I can confirm it does happen on my Fire Stick 4K and 2nd Gen Fire Stick

I have this issue too. It also will not allow you to manually mark played. Works fine on Roku, PC and IOS.

I’m experiencing this on my new Fire TV Cube, and it’s making think about switching back to Roku…

I didn’t see this post when I posted the same issue a few minutes ago.

After watching a TV episode from the series’ interface the episode doesn’t not visually update as watched. Also, when marking an episode as watched from the series interface it doesn’t visually update either. By visually update, I am talking about the yellow underline under the episodes thumbnail. When you leave the currently displayed season, or go back to the main interface and go back into the series season page the episode is updated as watched (with the yellow bar).

Steps to reproduce.

  • Navigate to the TV series’ episode interface
  • Highlight an unwatched episode and mark it watched
  • The mark as played/unplayed button at the bottom reflects the correct state
  • No yellow bar appears under the episodes thumbnail

I just noticed the same is true when marking a watched episode as unplayed the yellow bar does not disappear.
