Server Version#: 1.13.0.5023
Player Version#: 6.4.12
I have a TCL series 4 4K Roku TV. I installed a Plex player on this Tv a while back and everything was working fine until recently (a few days ago). I’m only playing content from a local server. Now, when I try to play most movies, or even just going to the movie info screen, triggers a reset of the app and I’m returned to the Roku home screen. There are certain movies in my library that still play fine, but most don’t. These movies used to work fine with this player in the past. Note that I have the player installed on a few other devices in my house, an Apple TV, tablets, and web browsers on my computers, and they all work ok.
Hi, if it’s just a matter of updating the server, I can do that easily. I actually asked the server to check for updates but it looks like the server is up to date.
The server update will be a quick fix, if this is related to what I think it is. You may be on an old enough version where you need to manually update. You can download the current version at https://plex.tv/downloads
Is there any plans to update to the Roku channel to fix this? I am seeing the same issue. Some movies crash the Roku app and return to the Roku home screen simply by selecting the movies information in Plex. Was working with my server until Plex pushed out a new update to the Roku channel now almost half my movies unaccessible. Is there fix planned for Plex channel for those of use that can’t just update the entire server. This seems like a huge problem if movies that used to play now crash the entire application. My movies play fine on Fire TV and other environments just crashes on Roku.
I can confirm the crashing issue is related to subtitles. Roku Channel Version 6.4 build 12
The movies that all crash when you select them have subtitles srt enabled for that movie. The movies that don’t have subtitles turned on do not crash when you select them. What is also strange is movies that have subtitles if I turn them off I can now select the movie and view the movies information. If I play the movie and during play select settings and manually turn on the subtitles the movies plays the subtitles with no problem. So the issue is not even Roku being able to play the subtitles. There is a coding issue where subtitles being present crashes movie info screen even though the subtitles are all valid and will play on Roku. Please fix this Channel it affects all of us Roku users who can’t select our movies with subtitles. It used to work before your update and it works fine on all other Plex apps.
