I’m having an issue streaming from my desktop PC (plex server) to my Sony Bravia TV. What’s happening in a nutshell, is that the playback is stuttering and laggy when playing video from my desktop to the TV. Even when I set the playback quality to convert automatically, it stutters.
What’s odd, is that when I use any other device (including my phone or tablet, or my Samsung smart monitor) it streams flawlessly without any stutter. I have my computer hardwired into my network, and I originally thought it might have been a network issue, but none of my other devices (all either hard wired into the network or wireless) aren’t having any issues with playback. The issue seems to only be happening on my smart tv (Sony Bravia model VU1 running Android TV OS v11).
There might be some sort of setting I’m not seeing or don’t know about, but even after making sure the Plex app is updated, the server is updated, and both devices have been restarted just to be sure the issue persists. Apologies if this is a stupid question, and if there’s any other information I can give I’m more than happy to. To bypass the issue (watching movies with the family on our TV) I’ve actually been streaming plex to my ipad and screen mirroring it to my TV because streaming directly to the TV doesn’t seem to work (a sloppy bypass for sure, but it works in a pinch).
