What does the “track source” refer to when creating a new smart playlist?
Can this tag be applied outside Plex in ID3 tag editor.
IIRC it’s currently only used to distinguish media from Tidal vs. your own personal or shared media.
Thanks for the quick reply. What about the “Label” tag?
I don’t think so.
Best take a dummy file and the metadata editor of your choice, pump the file with all possible attributes and see what ends up in Plex (and what doesn’t). I’ve done that some years ago when setting up my home videos – not sure if that’s still valid though.
Tried to apply a “Label” tag to an mp3, and it gets applies to “Record Label” in Plex. So the question is what is the difference between “Label” and “Record Label”? Both are available as filters for playlists.
The Label filter lets you filter for the sharing labels within Plex. It’s a field used to apply restrictions when sharing your media (e.g. whitelisting or blacklisting movies to be included/excluded from a shared library). Some users also „misuse“ the sharing label for smart playlists or collections.
The Record Label is referring to the record production company.
@tom80H so “Label” does not apply to music files, correct? I don’t see it as an optional field. If that is the case, it should be hidden when creating music playlists.
It does well apply.
Some users want to create a smart playlist / collection to see what content they’re sharing with others (applying that sharing label).
Some users misuse the sharing label as some alternate organization (personal example: I’m tagging movies that won certain accolades; you can do the same with songs, albums or artists).
Where exactly are you seeing this option for music?
I only see the “Sharing” section under movie files, not music.
Do I need to enable something first?
My bad… for music it’s only available on the album level:
