And this is “Label”, not “Record Label”.
At the moment I have to go back to my main PC and create smart collections to do this, but it would be handy to be able to do this fully in Plexamp.
If not, what field would be best for me to use that I can populate manually on each album which I can then filter on in Plexamp ?
Thanks.
‘Labels’ in this sense are really for sharing or excluding things with users rather than meant for this sort of metadata filtering.
You could instead add genres styles or moods to albums for smart filtering

So there is no generic tag-like field that we can use for this purpose?
The tags I wish to set are unrelated to style or mood. It’s what I consider to be the source of the release.
CD Rip
Download
— Bandcamp
— Qobuz
— Band / Label
That sort of thing.
No, there is no generic tag that I’m aware of
For that use case I personally would add ‘Collections’ tags for ‘Bandcamp’, ‘Qobuz’ etc
These album collections can then be used in smart filters

Yeah, that’s what I’m doing now using “Label”.
Thanks for your input
No worries - however if you use Collections tags you can create your smart playlists in plexamp too
Genre can be “abused” for this, just add an additional genre with any tag editor with your custom label (Rock;Pop;MyLabel), and you’ll be able to filter for it with smart collections/playlists, as Track Genre (song level) or Album Genre (album level).

I’m actually at the beginning of this categorization exercise so have switched to collection tags and that seems to give me the flexibility I need. Top stuff !
