Questions about Labels & Plexamp

Labels as in the labels added to the meta data in Plex. Not record labels.

  1. Is there a way to show Labels as a Library item under the library section
  2. Is there a way to show labels on the Plexamp home screen as an item.
  3. On the server side and file side, if I wanted to embed the labels in the audio files themselves as a metatag how should I do that so Plex can read the tag?

Lastly. Thank you so much for Plexamp and Plex, truly brings joy to my life on a daily basis. I just noticed the other day that you can change the album artwork now. Very nice touch. Much appreciated.

Let’s not forget, that their full name is “Sharing Label”.
I know they can be used more creatively, but it’s the general explanation for their absence from Plexamp.

So the answers (to my knowledge, at least) are:

  1. no
  2. yes, if you create a smart collection out of labels, which you then subsequently publish to the library home page. It will appear on the Plexamp home page, if this library has been selected as the current source. But it won’t be a list of labels, if you are after that kind of thing.
  3. no.

Thanks Otto. I learned something today. I didn’t know they were called “Sharing Labels”. Ok, yeah I have been trying various metatags in the files to see if Plex would “read” them. I tried many things and I just couldn’t get it to work, therefore my questions.

I didn’t think of doing a smart collection. That might be a good solution. Ill have to give it a try.
