Plex plays different films throughout whole library

hi
i have 3 libraries, 2 of them working fine! only the documentary library plays a different film, for every single one, i click play. e.g. “for the love of spock”, it plays “louder” and so on…

so i removed the lib. from plex server, erased it from the ssd and plex server, and copied it to another ssd, waited 1 week and copied it back to add it as a new library “documentary”.
the behavior is the same as before. when i play the films in the finder (osx) they are played correctly!

any ideas?

thanks

I’ve never heard of that happening so will need the server logs and probably info on how your directories and files are setup (file names/paths)

thanks for your offer, i ve been reading that it may be a naming issue, or "play trailer" there is a similar thread here, so i check first with filebot and come back tomorrow

Start by inspecting the Plex media info of the movie in question.
At the top you will see the file name that is connected to the poster.
If these two are not belonging together, you have a “mis-match”.

If they however do fit each other, you might want to disable the automatic playback of movie trailers in the settings of the player app.

easy - i disabled “play trailer” - now it works! every film is played correctly
is this a bug? if not - seems to be confusing

It’s like in the cinema (remember that?).
Before the main feature starts, there can be one or more trailers for different movies.
Just as a throwback to old times. And maybe as an inspiration what to watch next time.

Automatically playing the trailer for the movie that you are about to watch seems a bit nonsensical to me.
If you need to be remembered what this movie is about, you can manually start the trailer from the movie’s preplay page.

yes i know these trailers in cinema, but in plex, the trailer plays without giving a hint or showing a “trailer” banner, so it was confusing for me.
