Plex plays one song and then stops...

I am trying to have Plex play all songs of a given artist or at least play all songs within an album without having to formally add each one to a queue.

I have tried pressing either play or shuffle from the main artist page and similarly play or shuffle from the album page.
Result: one song is played (two if I am lucky) and then it stops.

This happens both on the Roku app and the browser.

Any idea of what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Will bump to see if anyone has any suggestions

Lets get some diagnostics of this happening on the roku

So ensure logging is enabled on the roku
Restart the server to get fresh logs created
Reproduce the problem
Note down what went wrong and when

Get the roku app log and server logs and attach here with summary of what went wrong and at what time

Plex for iOS 4.9 has just been released.

There is a fix for a problem relating to music playback

  • Music could randomly fail after finishing a track.

Suggest trying to see if that was your problem, if not, please provide the logs i requested earlier

Thank you for the reply.

On my iphone everything is now working fine. Instead on the Roku app I am still running into problems.

Will provide the logs as requested.

I enabled remote logging on 22 Apr 2017 - 11:16 EST.
Attached are the server logs.

During the remote logging period the playback failed 2 or 3 times. However it has also carried on a number of occasions so the situation is better than it was but not perfect for the Roku (as previously mentioned on iphone no problems).

Please do not enable remote logging unless asked to do so.

and if you have a roku issue best to report it in the roku forum http://forums.plex.tv/categories/roku-streaming-players
supplying both the roku and the server logs - of course after enabling logging in roku app settings

I can see an issue with the connection between the roku and the server and playback stopped
But best to report that with both sets of logs in the roku forum

Thank you for the reply.

Actually I enabled remote logging based on your previous message from the Roku logging instructions you shared.

Is there any chance to move this thread to the Roku forum (to keep the history) - otherwise will just open a new one.

Thanks,

I see ! sorry. The relevant bit is near the bottom under heading Plex for Roku Channel

There is no benefit moving the posts to the roku forum without roku logs. I can move the specific posts into a new topic once you attach the server and roku log. You can copy the log from browser by selecting all and pasting to text file.

and please tell me what title text summarizes your roku issue ? I do not believe it is the same symptom as the iOS one of playing one song and then stopping

Could I add in Samsung TVs as additional devices that have this problem. The TVs in question are UE55JS9000 using Orca’s Smarthub. This remains unsolved but was possibly narrowed down to a transcoding problem. It does not affect all Samsung TVs, just newer ones as mine works fine.

This forum topic related to an issue where when preparing a next music track to be played next was failing on iOS. I suspect that the issues you have with roku or Samsung are nothing to do with that and are separate problems.

Whilst the underlying problem for Samsung and roku may be the same, at this point of time we do not know that and I would like to progress the roku issue first,
