So I run a plex server on my computer I keep on. But lately, for some reason, I keep having issues where we try to watch something on our tv with a Roku stick but it keeps having the buffer or the server isn’t on, and this happens every day. I make sure to update plex as often as possible, and I’m on the latest version but it keeps happening. Below is the current version I’m running with as well as the computer specs. It’s on a wired connection, connected to a network switch, which is connected to our modem/router. The server is located in an office and our tv is in our bedroom which is across the hall, so it’s a short distance away and all the other apps on our tv get good connections, just plex is having the issue. I cleaned out the cpu cooler and dusted it out in general, and it still acts up. I’ve had it since 2016 and only had to replace one of the wd reds and haven’t had any problems since. I use Backblaze to backup our media but only during the middle of the night when no one is using it. Only a couple of people really use it but it’s rare and we use the most of course. I use TightVNC in order to remote view my desktop (this was built when I didn’t have much experience with Linux builds and just wanted to easily see what’s in windows explorer without learning anything new). I’m sure one of the things I’ll need to do is upgrade the CPU for better transcoding, but I saw on eBay that there are Xeon processors that I can implement into this build without getting rid of most of them.
