Hi everyone, can anyone give me any idea why Plex relay is no longer working for me? My ISP is Starlink so I use relay for my one remote user and when I’m out and about. It’s been working fine for the last year or so but stopped working a few weeks ago. As far as I can tell, it stopped after a server update but I can’t be 100% sure about that. My server is running and up-to-date but my libraries say offline. I tried disabling and re-enabling remote access and relay but it didn’t help. Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can try?
There is no issue I am aware of on our end with Relay.
DNS is how computers translate URLS into the IP addresses they actually go to. The DNS servers which all ISP have their own of, can some be problematic for some services. Like if an ISP decided for whatever reason to block access to some website or service they could do so via their DNS servers. Googles and Cloudflares tend to be very open. Meaning they will not block access to URLs.
If you want to provide your server logs we can have a look
Thanks again. I decided to try changing the DNS servers as you suggested and I have partial success. Sometimes the libraries say offline, sometimes the libraries load but when I play an item it just sits on the loading spinner and doesn’t play, sometimes items play. I do wonder if the underlying issue is the old laptop I’m using to run my server. It’s very slow and can get very hot (I use a cooling fan underneath it). I just don’t think it can handle any kind of transcoding such as that required for Plex relay. I think I’m going to have to look at replacing it.
That’s not true. Starlink is IPv6 capable but not IPv6 only. And, as I said, relay has been working perfectly fine for the last year or so and I’ve had Starlink much longer than that.
So I may or may not have sorted the IPv6 [updated server logs attached]. I changed my server settings to use only IPv4 and turned off IPv6 in my TP-Link Deco app [using the Deco with the SL router in bypass mode]. Now I can access my libraries but I can’t get anything to play. The video loads but never starts playing - the loading spinner just keeps spinning.
