Plex Scanner command line - questions & replacement for deprecated --index

Server Version#: 4.51.3
Player Version#:

  1. Since the “–index” (or -b) action parameter to the Scanner is deprecated, what is the replacement parameter (or method) for forced generation of media index files?

  2. What is accomplished with the “–generate” (-g) parameter?

  3. Is there a way via Plex (or externally) to check if a video has media index files generated? (E.g. the XML output (via “info” XML on the video within Plex) file does not appear to indicate it.

If I can get answers to this than I’ll generate a bash script that’ll allow you to show the sections and/or items (e.g. movies) and run the allowed scanner commands… that’s the goal. I already have a multitude of bash scripts for managing my video’s, so this shouldn’t be difficult if I can get the command line parameters et al.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice!
