I have a HDHomeRun Prime added to my Plex server for viewing. If I go into the configuration in Plex, it says that it has three tuners (it does), but two are recording now (they aren’t). I have no scheduled recordings and no other device in my house is recording with them. My Nvidia ShieldTVs have the HomeRun app, but they aren’t actively being used (or recording – I can’t figure out how to configure that on the Shield, but that’s a different story).
I’ve tried “deleting” the DVR in the Plex settings and re-adding it, but no joy.
Hi there, have you looked at the tuner directly from a web browser? You can access it directly from its IP address on your local network, then look at each tuner in “Tuner Status”, if its active it will have data populating that tuner, if its not active it will say “none” in each field. You can also update the software on it from that page as well.
I am getting the same thing. Got two tuners one is in use and it really isn’t, can tell by the server status icon at the top of the page. See attachment!

The status icon at the top doesn’t show whether an item is being recorded right now. Also note that while no recording may be running the “recording now” also counts finished recordings currently being in the postprocessing stage (e.g. Comskip or a Postprocessing script).

I am not doing any type of post processing on my DVR. Strictly right now for watching live TV in real time.
also that status icon is only for what plex is doing, the HDHomerun is hooked to your network, meaning another device can be using it, hence the reason to check the device via a web browser to see if its active on one of the tuners.
I only have plex talking to my SiliconDust Homerun device. I use the SiliconDust utility that will show what each tuner is tuned to, and neither one is in use. Have had this happen several times where a tuner wasn’t available when they were not actually in use.
Well I have you all beat. I’m at 2 tuners - 15 recording now. Every time I attempt to view an OTA channel via Plex, the number recording goes up. Channels will no longer try to tune in Plex, but with the hdhomerun app, I can switch channels at will. Checked hdhomerun from ip address, deleted DVR, deleted all scheduled recordings, checked activity in playing and conversion (none in either), unplugged hdhomerun, yet nothing fixes the problem. Every time I set up a new DVR, the number of recordings picks up where it left off. Problem is clearly with Plex, but can’t find a solution. Wife threatening to return to cable tv! Please help!
This thread seems to be a bit old but I’m having the same issue, only have 2 tunners and plex will say that have x amount of “recording now”. I’ve verified on the HDHomeRun GUI that the tunners arent being in use. HELP!
