Plex Server aborts recording if Plex Player started on the same computer

Server Version#: 1.27.1.5916
Player Version#: 1.47.1.3086
I posted about this problem awhile ago and never got a resolution. I am running my server on an iMac-M1, and my player is on the same computer. I have recordings start automatically to record live TV. These will record successfully UNLESS I start the player while a recording is in progress. Then the recording aborts immediately after the Plex player screen appears. I don’t have to do anything other than start the player. Any help gratefully appreciated.

Took a look at logs. I think maybe the nano server that is in the player that controls downloads to player might be interfering with the server on same computer but not sure yet. Will need to get others to look at logs. Unfortunately I am not personally very good with the DVR feature.

If it is possible to get the logs from the player as well when it happens along with server logs it may help figure out issue… Windows/Mac app logs | Plex Support

I’ll try and recreate the issue and get both logs again. Thanks for looking.

Sadly, problem easily recreated. Here are Server and app logs. All I did was start the player. Thanks.

I am still having folks look into this. sorry for delay

Thanks for the update.

This was resolved before you even started this thread but the fix hasn’t made it into a release version yet.

I first posted this in another thread that wasn’t resolved in March. When will this go into production. Not being able to use Plex while recording is not a problem that should be ignored. I can’t tell you how many recordings I’ve accidentally ruined because I didn’t check the time first, even with a note on my desk listing those times. Please give me an ETA. Thanks.

@gbooker02 Is this a server or player issue? How will I know that it’s been implemented??? Thanks.

It’s in a component used by the client. It will be in the release notes. Unfortunately this requires waiting on release cycles to bubble the fix up to the client but it should be in the next version.

Can you please tell me how to find the release notes (both client and server, actually) as I’ve been searching for the past 15 minutes and can’t find them. Thanks.

In the announcements section a the top of the forums are releases notes for all the apps.

@BigWheel Thanks… it took awhile to realize that the notes were in chronological order and 35 page downs to find the current version. You might want to pin a note at the VERY top to indicate that the latest is at the bottom of the page… and I assume this applies to all announcement sections… but it is good you keep the history available.

Thx for feedback. I can see about adding some sort of note at the top of that category.

for future reference

When in the topic you can just on the date on the bottom of the timeline slider on the right to get to last post.

Since you have scrolled to the bottom and looked at all of them the next time you go there it should remember and take you the first unread post of that topic.

You can watch the app topic (drop down at the bottom) and have it notify you when new posts are made in it so you don’t have to keep manually checking

You can also adda browser bookmark this with last appended to the end instead post number and it will always take you to the last post. such as

https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-for-mac-windows-and-linux/446435/last
instead of
https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-for-mac-windows-and-linux/446435/67

You did me one better. I looked at the last in each topic and bookmarked that, which meant I would at least get that far down when I went to that particular announcement topic. I did add a watch to the topics… Now I just have to hope I will recognize my topic as described by Plex!

@BigWheel I noticed in Plex Player 1.52.1

" * Fixed client killing PMS processes when running on same machine

Is this my problem finally resolved? Thanks.
