Plex Server Access to HDHomeRun Flex Storage

Server Version#:1.41.0.8994-f2c27da23

Perhaps someone can let me know if what I’m expecting is realistic?

I’ve a new Model HDFX-4K HDHomeRun Flex 4K Firmware Version 20231214 with an EPG subscription. The USB attached storage is a Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD.

I would like the HDFX-4K to record shows to its attached SSD.
Shows recorded with the HD app, only appear in the HD app, not in Plex.

I would like to use my Plex Server and Plex Pass to transcode and serve those shows.

Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to configure Plex to see that storage.
The tuner function of the HDFX-4Kworks fine in Plex.
Plex works fine if I have it do the initial recording using computer storage, but it would be so much more elegant to use initial recordings made by the HDFX-4K!

Plex instructions indicate the storage should appear in the Library/Tuner area, but it doesn’t so I’m wondering if there’s a configuration error?

Thanks for your help.

You might receive more help this by asking on the SiliconDust forums. This a limitation of HDHomeRun Flex tuner; it has no NAS capabilities meaning it can’t serve files over the network as generic storage.

The HDFX-4K is now recording to the PC drive. The files are .mpg and use the AC-4 audio codec, which neither Plex nor VLC understand.
How can the AC-4 Codec be added to Plex?

It can’t be currently. There’s a long thread on these forums bemoaning that fact.
