I am new to Plex. I just purchased a Silicone Dust HDFX-4US. It has a USB port to store DVR recordings. I would like to know if PLEX can store the recordings on the USB attached to the HDFX? OR must the drive be attached to the network?

No, Plex cannot record to a USB drive attached to the HDHomeRun Flex. It is only for use by the SiliconDust DVR (this is a limitation of the HDFX).

Plex records to the server’s Hard Drives so it is not required for you to use the HDHomeRun DVR option which last time I checked they charge for but that has been a while since I looked into that.
