Plex server crashes after a few days of running

Server Version#:1.42.2.10156
Player Version#:

Synology DSM 7.3.2-86009 Update 1
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

Ever since I updated plex to the current version, my server crashes after a few days. I can still load the plex page (localhost:32400) and see my local server. However, when I try to click on “music” I get an error. I also can’t access any of the server settings. Similarly, plexamp will display the existence of the server. If I click on the icon to bring up artists and albums it will display 0.

Restarting plex from synology does not seem to have any impact. The only way to fix things is to restart my NAS entirely. That always fixes everything for at least a few days.

thanks!

Please provide your server logs, thanks.

sorry! Here are some recent ones. Please let me know if it would be helpful to go further back.

Please provide a full set of server log files (the entire zip file from Settings > Troubleshooting) that capture the problem.

The Crash Uploader log files basically say “Hey, I uploaded a crash file to Plex.” Only Plex employees can access those files.

The crash reports contain very little information that you or I could understand, but it is invaluable information to the Plex engineers.

If you are unable to get the logs from Plex Settings > Server > Troubleshooting > Download Logs, then open DSM File Station and navigate to /PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server, right click on the Logs folder and select Compress to Logs.zip.

Attach the Logs.zip file to your post, thanks.

how about these?

From Plex Media Server.log. It repeats hundreds of times.
Feb 02, 2026 19:29:31.589 [140596055968568] WARN - [HttpClient/HCl#7d] HTTP error requesting GET https://v4.plex.tv/pms/:/ip (6, Couldn't resolve host name) (Could not resolve host: v4.plex.tv)

Plex is not crashing. It is losing its network connection.

Here’s a list of things to check.

Verify the NAS Network Configuration

Synology Control Panel → Network, verify the network interface is correctly configured.

  • IP address
  • Subnet Mask ← usually 255.255.255.0
  • Default Gateway ← usually the IP address of your router

Configure the NAS to use a public DNS server such as:

  • 1.1.1.1 - Cloudflare
  • 8.8.8.8 - Google
  • 9.9.9.9 - Quad9

Perform a Network Reboot

  1. Shutdown the NAS
  2. Reboot the router and any network devices (switches, etc.) between the NAS & router.
  3. Wait for router and other network equipment to fully boot
  4. Power on the NAS

Thank you. I’ll try these and report back.

For whatever it is worth, the NAS itself remains available, and I can’t even access the plex server on my local network. I recognize that searching for the external connection may be the thing that’s bringing it down, which could coexist with being accessible locally.

Looks like it may be an issue with IPv6. I disabled that on the NAS and so far so good….
