Plex server crashes periodically on Windows 10

Server Version#: 4.128.1
Player Version#: 1.91.0.129-1cd63c1d

Hi peeps, I’ve been running a Plex server for many years by now, but for the past year or so I have been struggling with random crashes, a few times a week in general. I’ve noticed it happens more often when mass uploading new media.

I’ve tried looking through the log, searching google for every possible warning or error, with no real luck sadly.
I’ve seen topics with people that have some of the same symptoms that I have, like Plex is crashing, but the icon doesn’t disappear until I hover the mouse over the Plex icon.
When right clicking the Plex icon the menu popping up is empty, until Plex is restarted.
And the symptoms before the actual Plex crash is posters missing for half my media. It seems like it’s a build up of issues until Plex finally gives up, it starting to get really annoying, and I’ve finally given up fixing the issue myself, at least without any help.

Plex server is running on an updated Windows 10 machine, with a i7-8700k, GTX 1070 and 32GB memory. No other issues on the machine besides the Plex crash, memtest shows no errors as well. I’ve running 24/7 monitoring and the server never even get close to 100% usage on CPU, GPU or memory.

I’ve uploaded some crash logs and the actual media server log, I hope someone are willing to give it a lookthrough to shine some light on what I can do as my next step.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can spare some time helping my out

(EDIT: Let me know which logs are relevant and I’ll upload new ones if needed)

I’m having the same issue almost exactly as described with my server. Running on a Dell Optiplex 7010 Intel(R) Core™ i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz on an SSD with 32 GB of ram, have installed a second SSD for plex to use as cache drive. Have upgraded power supply to 350 from orig 300 and have installed graphics card with 4 GB video mem. Have a rather large library running on 2 external raid units connected USB totaling about 62 TB. It will do the same as described above and goes down about once a week. Any help would be much appreciated and if you need a log file please let me know what I need to upload.

Thanks

current: Plex Server Version 4.125.1

I was having very similar/the same issues with my PMS running in y Windows 11 a few builds back.

PMS was crashing every 4-9 days which I think was dependant on how much media I added to my server at any given time.

The solution that worked for me was to Disable “Push Notifications” under Settings > Remote Access.

I have since turned Push Notifications back - after the “fix” to this issue was alluded to in a previous beta build

I just updated to build Version 1.40.3.8502 today and.

So, it can’t hurt to turn off Notifications and see if that doesn’t alleviate the issue or make it go away…

Good luck!

That sounds interesting, sadly I have little hope it’ll do anything.
Never hurts to try though, I’ll write back if it makes any difference.

For others with the same issue; I still haven’t found any other solution, so I’m preparing a full reinstall of my Windows server and Plex setup.

FYI, this isn’t your Plex Server version #, this is your Plex Web (web GUI) version.

To locate and update the version of PMS you are using, select the version from Settings >> General tab.

I was SUPER skeptical about this being a solution too – but I was shocked when it worked.

Thank you also for the suggestion but I do not see a setting under remote access for Push Notifications even with Advance settings enabled. Mine goes down about every 7 days not the computer but Just the Plex media server and rebooting will clear it. Currently running build Version 1.40.2.8395 and when checking through the app it tells me there are no newer versions available but your version is a newer number then what I am running. I have never run any of the beta versions.

There is a push notifications under General but it is not enabled on my computer.
