Plex Server Crashing multiple times each hour

Hi all, apologies if this has been posted previously, I’m not too savvy on these forums.

I’ve been running PMS for over a year without any issues. The past few weeks however have been a nightmare. Plex is crashing at an increasing pace and I don’t know where to turn to fix it. I’m at the point where I’ll cancel my subscription and find an alternate service, so hopefully someone here can shed some insight.

I’m currently running V 1.20.4.3517 on Windows because it won’t let me upgrade. I’ve got the notification that there’s a new version, but whenever I try I’m faced with a “Grab a cup of tea” message and then nothing happens.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Update “manually”:

  • Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
  • deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows
    (do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.
    do not use “Registry Cleaner/optimizer” software like CCleaner et al)
  • for safety, reboot Windows
  • download the installation exe of the newer version and install it
