Just updated to 1.21.2.4 and then PMS crashed about 10 minutes later, when no clients were playing anything
PMS has become very unstable in the last 3 or so days. What is going on?
Can you pls look at the logs I have posted @sa2000 and let me know if u can see any cause for these crashes?
Same. After updating Plex and Windows 10 updates, even after rebooting, PMS crashes when nothing is even going on. What a bad release.
Seems like there is a new version – 4015. Maybe it fixed the problem? Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More
4015 is the version I just updated to. Then it crashed 10 minutes later.
Something is really wrong. Tonight PMS wont stay running longer than about a minute. Not even long enough to get the logs downloaded.
This is the first time I’ve had serious instability with PMS in years and years of use.
What can I do??? PMS is completely unstable now. I can’t find an old version to download so I could roll back. If I try one of the older versions in the Updates folder, it say’s I can’t install an old version because of the newer version already installed.
Is it safe to uninstall PMS from Control Panel, and then install an older version?
Here are the latest logs after completing a [Repair] install using the v4015 Updates folder file. PMS crashed a few minutes into playing a file from the Web client:
PMS Logs 9-2-21 12-15.zip (49.5 KB)
As soon as I started PMS again, after the crash that these log files come from, PMS crashed within 30 seconds! Getting very pissed off with this. It’s so unusual because it has been stable for years.
Is anyone from Plex looking at this thread? I need help with this as I can’t keep PMS running - and its needed for my family users
I’m having the same problem, there are multiple threads with people who say that they use Win 10 and the server crashes mulitple times a day ever since the last update. I think I’m gonna try to roll back the update until this is fixed.
I just rolled back to 1.21.2.3939 - and it still crashed!!!
Your issue is being progressed here Plex Keeps Crashing - #27 by sa2000 - waiting for your database
The crashes are all different. Your crash is with the development team and relates to the generation of the movies hub on the screen. Crashes from @clowg awaiting copy of the database before referring to the development team.
Can you see if there are any dmp files in directories below here
C:\Users\Tobias\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Crash Reports\1.21.2.3943-a91458577\PLEX MEDIA SERVER
Also check other versions as you may have upgraded since then. There would be a directory set for each version below C:\Users\Tobias\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Crash Reports\
Please zip and attach the zip if you find any
For the logs provided, i would be specifically interested in dmp files created round these times

I’m having that same issue its been on going for a few months now that it keeps randomly crashing for no reason even if nothing is playing. Version 1.21.4.4079
I’ve upgrade ram and changed to a ssd and still the same issue has anyone found what is causing this?Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-08_19-31-29.zip (2.2 MB)
The crashes seem to follow testing out the intel hardware transcoding driver. Have you updated the intel driver before the crashes started ? We had these types of crashes before and at the time I produced a matrix of different versions - but of course that list is now out of date but it shows that these crashes occur with some versions of the intel driver
See this old matrix here Hardware transcoding (QuickSync) causing server crash - #75 by sa2000
The driver that was being tested at the time of the crash was “Intel® Quick Sync Video H.264 Encoder”
