Plex server crashing

Hello All,

I have been a long time user now of Plex Media Server and love everything about it. About 6 months ago my C drive crashed so i had to replace the drive and recover my Plex DB from a backup. So i did a fresh install of MS windows and then installed the plex server but decided to put the plex media db on my ReadyNas everything came up and worked.

However now what i have noticed is that PlexServer crashing very often now and i have to log on and start the Plex Server app.

I never ever had this problem before so just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.

  1. Pull the Plex server log files. Look in Plex Media Server.log (and .1.log to .5.log) for ERROR messages that mention the database is corrupt or malformed.

  2. Move the Plex Data Folder back to a local drive. Having it on a network drive can lead to database corruption. Also, it will greatly increase the latency when reading/writing to the database, creating thumbnails, etc.

  3. Download and run the PlexDBRepair Utility.

  • Download & unzip DBRepair-Windows.zip
  • Stop Plex Media Server
  • Run it from the command line: c:\DBRepair-WinDev.bat.
  • The utility looks for the Plex application and data folder in their default location. If needed, the BAT file can be edited to look in a different location. Edit the file with a text editor and look for the REM These assume PMS is in the default location section.
