Plex Media Server - Corrupt Database - Unable to see any of my media

Hello!
I’ve had Plex for a long while now with very little issues.
Yesterday - my PC froze and had to be turned off and on again.
Since then I am unable to open PLEX Media Server and my media is not viewable on any of my devices.
When I try to ‘launch’ Plex Media Server I get a box saying ‘Corrupt Database’, a red circle with a white cross in it, and ‘Plex Media Server was unable to open it’s media database’.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Plex Media Server… even doing a clean re-install (deleting everything Plex related off my PC and re-installing everything).
I have also tried to ‘Repair’ using the guides in the trouble-shooting section (although I’m not sure I completely understand them to be honest - never having needed to use them before).
I’m on a lifetime pass and would like some Plex support on this as currently I’m pretty much ‘Plex-less’ :frowning:
Anyone know a fix for this so I can enjoy my media again.
Thank you.
P.S. I had the latest versions/software of the PC desktop versions. Thanks again!

  1. Restore a Database Backed Up via 'Scheduled Tasks' | Plex Support

  2. alternatively Repair a Corrupted Database | Plex Support

Tips to prevent DB corruption:

  • don’t remove power the “hard way”, without properly shutting down the OS and the server
  • Don’t move the plex data folder to a network file share
  • Never, ever let the drive which holds the plex data folder run completely full

Many thanks OttoKerner! That seems to have worked.
I used the Restore Backed-Up option you suggested
I’ll have a check through and see if everything is O.K., but for the moment at least… it looks fine.
Thank you again!!!

If you did 1), there is a slight chance that this is already corrupted as well. It might just not be so severely damaged that the server refuses to start up.
I recommend to perform the repair process in any case.

Thank you.
I will try (it looked a lot harder and convoluted to me as I’m a bit of a technophobe I’m afraid).
I will give it a go.
Thank you again Otto!
