Plex Server doesn't find all music files

Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#: 1.4.1.940-574c2fa7

I have a huge problem with my plex media server.
Till now all worked good for me. I have no plugins installes, only vanilla plex on the latest version.
It runs on an virtual Windows Server 2016 Datacenter, with 10 Cores and 10240 MB RAM (~10GB) and a Gigabit connection to the LAN and 100/40 MBit/s DLS connection to the WAN.

My own media, like movies, series and music are on a Raid 1 4TB NAS HDD. I looked up all other things that could be wrong, but everything is working correclty (the Raid Controller, the HDDs, the Hyper-V Server Installation and all other stuff that is not Pley media Server).

But my problem is, that every time i want to add a new music album to my Pley Server he doesn’t show it to me in the plex client software (i am using all latest versions and tried to reinstall the whole Windows Server and Plex severall times!).
I think the problem is till the last Plex Media Server Update!

I can see the folders where the music lays in, but it says that there are no files found.
My file structure is very simple but works very well (till now … )

…/Musik/[Artist] - [Album/Single]/[Artist] - [Album] - [Track number] - [song name].mp4

I set all mp3-Tags as well so plex can grap them and use them for search or the cover art.

I dont know what to do now. I am realy confused!

It would be very nice, if someone could help me with this problem, because i have a hand full of people who want to use plex.

You can start with this article which describes the new PlexMusic scanner and matches:

and to a lesser extent this:

What’s really the most useful thing imo is getting the most out of MusicBrainz by using their Picard program. I let it tag all my retail music. Takes some time, but my tracks match immediately on the first scan in Plex after having used Picard to tag everything first.

Good luck!

Hey,

it’s very nice to have an answere.
All my 20,000 Songs are tagged by BrainzPicard and the FIle Names automated by MP3-Tager Python Scripts.

I think the problem is else where!

Nice evening.

Stefan.

Oh that’s nice.

Not sure if you’ve tried, but I think it’s worth trying a database rebuild.
I had a bunch of strange symptoms following the upgrade to v.1.18.x, and it seems that they were the result of some ‘hidden’ database issue.

  • I followed these instructions and grabbed the sqlite3 tools
  • My database did not indicate it had any corruption, the integrity check passed without errors.
  • Regardless, I did the complete database repair/rebuild procedure
  • After doing this, my music tagging and other glitches seem to be resolved

Give it a shot, curious if you have success.
